The always-popular Spence Club Winter Mixer was held at the luxurious Sofitel Hotel in 2023, focusing on health, well-being and creativity.
Titled: ‘Empowering Wellness’, the event aimed to offer members key insights, tips and tools to help achieve healthier foundations to take on life’s challenges; operate at sustained high-performance levels; and consistently be the best version of themselves.
Our inspiring speakers comprised:
- Kiara Roscio, Seed Exercise Physiology
- Marcelle Houtman, Body Institute
- Emily Bryson, Body Institute
- Bel Ryan, Ignite Wellbeing Co.
We asked them to share lessons, tips and tricks around small changes that members could make in their daily lives that could materially improve health, as well as how nutrition, exercise and sleep influence general wellbeing and immunity.
Members were also treated to an art therapy activity to help minimise stress, reduce burnout and inspire creativity.
Members then had the opportunity to network with like-minded South Australian women across a diverse range of industries whilst enjoying canapés and drinks offered in collaboration with the Sofitel.
Some of our favourite takeaways included:
- Fuelling our bodies properly is important - we underestimate how much energy we actually need to get through the day.
- Taking a pause - it's absolutely ok to take a break in our exercise/wellbeing routine and we shouldn't be hard on ourselves if we do.
- Stress and other environmental/lifestyle factors affect your hormones and menstrual cycles, sometimes for weeks or months after the event.
- Protein is important and should ideally form part of every meal - it’s often overlooked by women.
- Visualisation and artistic expression is a great outlet for working through emotions and a creative way of painting a vibrant picture of the situation.
- We can't just play catch-up on things like sleep. Aim to have a regular routine to help you unwind at the end of the day.
- Start small - pick a couple of achievable goals to kick-start your well-being journey, you don't need to go full throttle.
