Vault 134, Adelaide
In late 2020 to celebrate the opportunity to meet again in person after a pandemic driven hiatus of in-person events, Spence Club proudly hosted a Board Governance Q&A Panel, providing an insight into what it truly means to be on a board and how to find the right pathway to join one.
The event was a hit, with multi-industry leading experts, Fiona Mort, Kate Thiele and Cain Cooke making up the panel. Previous board member Sarah Curtis-Fawley did an exceptional job of moderating the insightful and diverse conversation, answering member questions on all things boards and their purposes.
This event was hosted at the perfect time with the upcoming 2020 AGM coming up the following month.
After a lively discussion and insightful audience questions, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of just what kind of questions one needs to ask before engaging and accepting a board position. One of the key takeaways from this session and an important question to always pose when engaging in a board position is 'If you were not being paid for a role on a board, would you still take the position?'
If the answer to this question is a no, then you are simply applying for the wrong position.
We would like to say a big thank you to our venue sponsor of the evening, Vault 134, as well as Penfolds Winery for their donation of guest speaker gifts.
