Spence Club’s Winter Warmer recipe swap & networking

IT was cold outside but the fire was crackling and the conversation flowing at the Hotel Metro for Spence Club’s latest event.

About 30 women came together on a Tuesday night at the historic pub in Adelaide’s CBD for our first Winter Warmer Recipe Swap and Networking evening.

Members-only gatherings like this one are designed to help Spence Ladies make new connections.

To that end, everyone was asked to consider a favourite recipe to bring along as an ice breaker.

Recipes were drawn at random and members encouraged to find the creator of the recipe they drew and get chatting.

Everything from brownies and choc-chip cookies to slow-cooked lamb shanks and oven baked salmon was on the menu. If you were there, we’d love you to post photos or updates on how your recipes turned out in our exclusive Spence Club Member Community on Facebook.

The philanthropic values of our Club were also on show as attendees brought a bucketload of canned and packaged goods to help Adelaide’s homeless through cold days and nights. The generous collection was donated to the Hutt Street Centre in the city.

These free events, held a number of times each year, include catered food and are covered by your annual Spence Club membership.

Three lucky members also walked away with bags of recipe books, donated for our door prize draw by The Advertiser’s Books Editor Deb Bogle.
