There couldn’t have been a more fitting location for our first book swapping event, than the iconic and eclectic Library Room at The Archer Hotel in North Adelaide.
Surrounded by shelves and tables stacked with books, about 25 Spence ladies including ‘Friend of Spence’ Hon Tammy Franks MLC, gathered for a free, members-only networking evening and the chance to share their favourite titles.
Members were asked to give a short review or description of the book they brought along, to spark conversation with whoever chose to take it home.
Self-help and professional development reads were popular – think How to Win Friends and Influence People and The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck – alongside memoirs and classics, such as Atonement and My Sister’s Keeper.
Four lucky members also won bags full of brand new paperbacks and hardcovers, thanks to our door prize sponsor The Advertiser and its Books Editor Deb Bogle.
And if you’re a paid member, please don’t forget to join our Spence Club Member Community and keep an eye out for opportunities to join one of our Sub-Committees (Events, Communications, Governance, Sponsorship or Membership).
